President Muhammadu Buhari was Wednesday told by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) that the nation’s economy has remained ‘fragile’ and would need every effort to ensure improvement.
President of MAN, , Mr Mansur Ahmed, told the President when members of the association visited him at the Presidential Villa.

He said, “With the Gross Domestic Product at 2.0 per cent and below the population growth rate, the clouds are still threatening and the task of driving the economy upwards is still enormous.
‘‘But, Your Excellency, we are encouraged by the very strong commitment you expressed only last week in your Democracy Day address.
‘‘You did say that in your second term, your administration will do, even more, not only to continue to drive the economy on the path of sustained growth but indeed to create a more inclusive and sustainable economy.”
During the visit, President Buhari had told MAN members that the country was yet to take a decision to establish the African Continental Free Trade Area.
In a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, MAN was told that an impact assessment committee set up by the government has been working on what would be Nigeria’s decision on African Continental Free Trade Area.
MAN had during the visit commended the President on measures to improve on the ease of doing business in Nigeria and the fight against corruption.
