We Now Generate N5.5bn Daily, Says Customs CG
The Customs Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said Thursday that the Service generates N5.5bn daily.
Ali disclosed this Thursday when he paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) in Lagos.
Represented by the Coordinator in-charge of Customs Zone A, Lagos, Assistant Comptroller General Kaycee Ekekezie, the CG said this was made possible as a result of automation of customs operations in the ports.
He said that with this, the Service has been able to pay salaries officers as well as make it possible to contribute to the nation’s treasury.
With automation, he said, the Service has been able to block all areas of revenue leakage.
Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, used to occasion of the visit to call on importers and freight forwarders to comply with trade regulations.
He said NAGAFF sanctions members who do not follow trade rules.
