Troops, Boko Haram Clash Leads to 139 Deaths
The clash between troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and Boko Haram insurgents has led to the death of 139 people in the past few days.
While the insurgents killed 75 people, the multinational troops killed 64 members of the Boko Haram.
A statement from the multinationa troops said the Task Force captured eight members of the insurgents during a gun battle at Lake Chad area.
The statement also said the terrorists on the other hand killed 18 people, among them 10 soldiers and eight civilians.
This was as news went round that the death toll following the attacks on some villages in Niger State which started Sunday has risen to 57.
Already about 1,000 villagers have been displaced in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
In a statement, the MNJTF spokesman, Col. Timothy Antigha said the fight between the troops and about 300 insurgents was in Darak , Northern Cameroon on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the troops destroyed three boats belonging to Boko Haram.
