NPA Woos Shipping Coys, Importers to Eastern Ports, Approves 10% on Harbour Dues
In what is targeted at ensuring that shipping companies and importers patronize the Eastern ports, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has offered 10 percent discount on harbor dues for all the terminals in the area.
The General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Engr. Jatto Adams was quoted to have said in a statement that the offer takes immediate effect.
The statement identified ports to enjoy such incentive as Calabar, Rivers and Delta Ports.
According to the statement, the discount will apply only to harbour dues paid on “vessels/cargoes: Container vessels with at least 250 TEUsGeneral Cargo vessels with at least 16,000 MTCombo Vessels with at least 16,000 MTRORO Vessels with at least 250 units of vehicles”.
The authority also made it clear that vessels that are coming without cargoes or calling at private jetties or vessels with liquid bulk cargo will not enjoy the discount.
