Breaking News: Panic at Ejigbo as Hoodlums Burst NNPC Pipeline in Search of Fuel
*Schools shut to avert tragedy

Residents of Ejigbo and Idimu area of Lagos were in the early hours of Thursday woken up after a pipeline was broken by unknown hoodlums with a bid to steal fuel.
The broken pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was flowing with fuel in surrounding environment , passing through deep gutter connected to the canal.
Residents at Oboye Street where the incident occurred had immediately alerted the Police and Lagos State Fire Service which are currently on ground in the area.
It was gathered that the perpetrators of the act had broken the pipe and were successfully scooping fuel until they could not control the flow forcing them to abscond.
A source said the residents in the area where fuel is flowing to had abandoned their homes as early as 4 am to avoid being caught unaware by any possible fire outbreak.
To check any fire incident, residents close to where the fuel is flowing have been warned not to cook or use generator .
Our Correspondent witnessed the flow of the fuel on the gutter down to the canal at Silva Estate, Idimu, all the way from Oboye Street where the pipeline was broken.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 2am with the Police arriving the scene at about 3am.
The Lagos State Fire Service has following this sent four fire fighting vehicles to the area at about 4am.
The incident has put residents of the area in palpable apprehension with everyone awaiting the arrival of the NNPC engineers to repair the damaged pipeline.
Following the incident, schools around the environment have sent their pupils and students home.
Students and pupils who reported to school this morning were simply asked to go home.
One of the schools, Wemby College, had also called parents who have children on boarder admission to come to the school and take their children until the situation is under control.
It would be recalled that the NNPC had recently embarked on destruction of illegal structures on the pipeline areas.
