The Vice Chairman of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Chief Henry Njoku, Monday said the Council is fully set to enthrone standard and professionalism for the benefit of practising freight forwarders.
Njoku said with the approval received from the government on the Ports Practising Fees (POFs), the present Council is now in a position to meet the needs of practitioners.
He disclosed that the approval received from government is such that all interests have been taken care of.
According to him, the 30 percent of the POF proceeds will go to individual agents through their associations.
He added that with 70 percent for CRFFN, it will be in a position to address issues of training and carry out regulations that will sanitise the profession.
He explained that unlike previously demanded by association leaders, 30 percent of the collections will not be for the associations even though it will pass through them.
Njoku said that he was happy about this development, adding that he feels fulfilled for such achievements for the industry.
He said that in the past, some leaders wanted some percentage to be paid direct to associations instead of individuals through which the collection was made.
The CRFFN Vice Chairman also explained that the Hilux cars distributed recently in the Council were specifically for Committees and not for individual members.
He said the vehicles will enable the Committees to perform their duties.
He also added that the vehicles were acquired before now and not by the present administration.
