Over 100,000 Nigerians Apply for Customs Recruitment

Over 100,000 are said to have applied for the recruitment exercise announced this week by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Sources collating applications online in the Customs portal said there have been inflows of applications since the announcement Tuesday.
The source said over 100,000 have so far submitted their applications online since the portal was opened 12.midnight on Wednesday..
Incidentally, the Customs Service will need only 3,200 officers.
Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Human Resources, Mr Umar Sanusi, Tuesday told newsmen that the exercise was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He said 800 officers will be needed as support staff in the superintendent cadre category and another 2,400 as Customs inspector and customs assistant cadre.
According to him, “Like all recruitment into position in Federal Government agencies, applications for recruitment will be open to all eligible Nigerians who meet the requirements irrespective of their tribe, religion, state or any other considerations.
“In our bid to ensure an equal and fair opportunity to all applicants, we are working every step of the recruitment process in compliance with the requirements of the Federal Character Commission”.
