The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said the organization is working tirelessly to ensure that the ports environment is overwhelmingly friendly to business.

General Manager, Corporate Communications of the authority, Engr. Adams Jatto said everything the management has been doing over the years was simply to put in place measures that will translate to an efficient system in the ports.

Speaking to the executive members of the League of Maritime Editors and Publishers during a visit to his office, Jatto said a friendly environment has the advantage of increasing revenue generation from the ports.

He said this was why the management tackled the rehabilitation of Apapa port access road with other stakeholders.
He assured that the federal government through the Ministry of Works will be tackling the Tin Can Island –Mile 2 road next, adding that this will address the issue of gridlock that is being suffered currently.

Jatto pointed out that the NPA management has been making suggestions to ensure that the Tin Can Island port road is rehabilitated, noting that this will end all the traffic issues from that end.

According to him, the philosophy of the NPA management led by Ms Hadiza Bala Usman is to work tirelessly to achieve good results for the interest of the ports industry.

Earlier in his speech, the President of League, Mr Kingsley Anaroke commended the organization for the training programme it organized recently in collaboration with Premium Times Services Limited for journalists covering the industry.

Anaroke described the training programme as deepening the understanding of journalists covering the beat.
