NIWA Impounds Boat with 12 Children without Life Jacket
A boat carrying 12 children without life jacket has been impounded in Lagos.
This was disclosed by the General Manager, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Muazu Sambo, Monday, in Lagos.
He said that the driver and operator of the boat has been arrested, adding that the agency places high premium on security of passengers on board boats.
He said the operator and driver will be handed over to the Police for prosecution.
According to him, a life jacket is mandatory for all operators of boats, explaining that they help in the event of any mishap.
