NNPC Denies Receiving Memo on Takeover of Shell Oil Bloc
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Thursday said it was not aware of any directive from the Presidency that it should take over the operatorship of oil bloc OML 11 from THE Shell Petroleum Development Company.
There was a publication in which the Presidency had in a memo instructed the NNPC to take over the oil bloc from Shell before the end April 30 2019.
The oil bloc is operated by Shell in Ogoni land whose people had threatened Shell over the continued operatorship.
In a statement by the image maker of NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu, the Corporation was yet to receive such memo.
Ughamadu in the statement to newsmen said he would not like making statements on what was yet to be seen.
OML 11 is owned by NNPC – 55 percent, Shell – 30 percent, Total – 10 percent , Agip – 5 percent under joint venture agreement.
OML 11 which is made up of 33 oil and gas fields is locaed in the Southeastern Niger Delta known as Ogoni land.
