Navy Arrests Boat with N20m Fuel at Atlas Cove Jetty
Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft Thursday arrested a wooden boat carrying as much as N20million worth of fuel at Atlas Cove Jetty in Lagos.
The arrested boat had 1,400 jerry cans of fuel believed to have been stolen.
The Naval Director of Information, Commodore Suleman Dahun told newsmen that 35000 liters of fuel were discovered in the boat.
Dahun said intelligence report of what was happening at Atlas Cove jetty led to the arrest of the boat.
He described Atlas Cove jetty as the haven for petroleum products thieves as well as pirates.
He said the arrest of the wooden boat was part of Navy’s constitutional mandate to check criminals on the waterways.
