Election Postponement: INEC Lied on Weather, Says Aviation Minister
The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, Sunday said the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu lied for using poor weather for not moving election materials to the states early enough.
In his Twitter handle on Sunday, Sirika said the INEC chairman should have said something else and not weather.
According to the Minister, the airports were open 24 hours during the election, adding that the weather was good for flight.
He said, “INEC should say something else as weather was good for flight operations on the eve of elections, similarly all airports were directed to open 24 hours during the election period.”
INEC Chairman had on Saturday said the poor weather was among the reasons some of the materials to the states did not get there on time.
