BPE DG Charges Concessionaire on Warri Port
The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) Tuesday called on the Concessionaire of Terminal ‘B’ Warri Old Port to focus on increased efficiency, improved service delivery at the seaport.
The Director General, Mr. Alex A. Okoh, during a signing ceremony for the concession of the port said what is expected is for the cost of shipping and clearing of goods to be reduced at the seaport.
During the signing ceremony in Abuja which was witnessed by critical stakeholders, including officials of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the BPE said both the concessionaire and the federal government agencies have parts to play for the success of the seaport.
In a statement by the spokesperson for the BPE, Amina Tukur Othman, the BPE DG
reminded the concessionaire, Ocean & Cargo Terminal Services Limited, to pursue business goals that will assist the federal government realize the objectives of the port concession programme.
He said that government has on its part upgraded the facilities at Terminal B Warri Old Port, with the construction of a new quay wall and apron equipped with requisite facilities for berthing vessels, adding that this has made the port one of the most modern port terminals in the country at the time.
