Pipeline Fire Destroys 100 Shops, 63 Vehicles in Lagos
A pipeline fire incident at Abule Egba, Lagos State, Wednesday destroyed properties worth hundreds of millions of Naira.
According to an eye witness, about 100 shops and 64 vehicles were razed by the fire incident.
The cause of the fire according to sources was by hoodlums who were stealing fuel from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s pipeline in the area.
Among the streets affected in the fire incident which started with an explosion were Adepegba, Wamon Taofeek, Santos, Owode, Arowolo and Shobowale.
Fire stations from the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos Police Command were on hand to battle the fire but could not do much to save the properties destroyed.
It was lamentation for owners of shops and vehicles destroyed by the fire incident.
Following the incident, the Lagos Police Command said efforts are being made to arrest those behind the scooping of petroleum products that led to the fire.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Chike Oti, investigation is being carried out by undercover agents to fish out the culprits behind the incident.
